Ethanol

Ethanol is used as oxygenate to promote cleaner burning higher octane motor fuel. Up to 10% ethanol can be blended with gasoline and used in all motor vehicles without any modifications. Ethanol used in gasoline not only contributes to a cleaner environment but reduces reliance on foreign oil. At present annual usage of ethanol is 7 billion gallons in the USA and this is expected to reach 15 billion gallons by 2015.
